LO 4.....

Database management

This is the last topic I have learnt before I am going to take my mid-term exam

This lesson we have learned about database management

it is a quite short topic for me

First of I have to describe what is database management about?

Database Management System: a software system for manipulating databases

This topic has linked with some program such as

Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, DB2, MySQL .

the topic tells us about the relational database

Its system defines and regulates the collection, storage,

management and use of data in a database. It is a system whose overall purpose is to record and maintain information. For instance, creating database by using Microsoft Access, Its structure makes the information easy to select, sort, display, and print in a variety of formats

even though we are finished this lesson very close with tomorrow exam,
but I am feeling quite happy because our beautiful lecturer
has given some review for mid-term exam, which is very useful for me.

finally we could finish this course completely and I am ready mentally
and physically to face the mid-term exam tomorrow ^_^

Information Systems

Information system is a topic that related with IT and ICT

such as hardware and software , database people and procedure.

It also involved the organization of a huge company or any industrial sectors

that use this technology for their management.

Therefore this system makes one organization become easy

and they can gain much information then it became popular and
in the same time,they can also promote their sectors to the world.

Moreover, by using this system for their organization,

it helpsthe company to manage the information and provide

with specific method or any kinds of solutions regarding their organization

So, information system is very important in business sectors

and also the manufacturing sectors to maintain

the development of their management or organization.

There are 5 types of IS that usually used in the organization.

TPS – transaction processing system

DSS- decision support system

ESS- expert support system

MIS- management support system

OAS-office automation system

And there are also a few examples of IS in the industrial sectors

like accounting, healthcare, marketing, and finance.

Here are the examples of education which used the IS system.

IT and ICT

we have move on to the next lesson that is information technology.

IT is a term that encompasses all forms of technology used to

create, store, exchange, and use of information in its various forms.

IT is divided into two concepts :

IT ARCHITECTURE

- a map or plan

- integrates entire organisations business needs for

information, infrastructure and applications.

IT INFRASTRUCTURE

-IT component ; computer hardware, software and communications
technologies.

-IT services ; services provided for people / customer like data
management, systems development and security management

-IT personnel ; people or individual who work with IT / IS

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

ICT refers to Information Communication and technology.

It is similar to Information Technology (IT),

but focuses primarily on communication technologies.

This includes the Internet, networks,
cell phones, and other communication mediums

or ICT is a technology that provide access to information
technology through telecommunication.

Uses of ICT in daily life

banking , business , government

we had given some explanations and examples about these topic.

It has open our mind and thinking as there are
many information and knowledge related to ICT that we have to learn in

a modern life and more popular in nowadays.

At the end of the class, for this lesson we had given
a task to be completed as a group work.

this task ask us to describe and state about ICT in business in our own country
and my group choose to describe about Cambodia business

we have given a piece of A5 paper and a question.
each group has given a difference question. we have to describe about

the technology and ICT in our country and we have to present it .

this is a very interesting presentation because we get to know about

other countries development in technology, also we get to know about

their systems that being used in their country
and try to compare with our system.

LO 1 ...

Data, Information and Information Management

Today is the first class of information and technology.

We get to know our lecturer, she is new to us and we are also new to her

^_^ ^ _^

We are open to the main topic that is the introduction for this subject.

Lecturer explained slides briefly to us what is this topic all about

Which i can summaries that this is necessary for us as a student

to learn about this topic and get the information about it.

Because if student could not understand the basic thing about

information and technology, how they can learn the difficulty.

This lesson tells us about these things ;

The generation of computer technology, which is including with 5 generation

First Generation (1940-1950) :: Vacuum Tube

1ST Electronic compute called ENIAC [1945]

(Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computers)

Second Generation (1950-1964) :: Transistors

which Vacuum tubes have been replaced by transistors

Third Generation (1964-1974) :: Integrated Circuits (IC) (microchip)

it can combines thousands of transistors, entire circuit on one computer chip.

Fourth Generation (1974-Presen):: VLSI / ULSI

VLSI = Very Large-Scale Integration

ULSI = Ultra Large Scale Integration

Fifth Generation (now and the future) Based on artificial intelligence

computers can think, reason and learn.

In our first lesson we have learned the differences between

data and information

we know how to differentiate between these two

and we do research about the problems that related with

information and management, also the solutions for that problems.

we learned about what is data, information

and we also be given the examples of these topic

to make us understood what we have been learned

in the lecture we get them to know

about the economics of information and IT .

And at the end of this session we have given the first assignment

Information management

we have known about information management (IM) systems like :

Record management (RM)

Document management (DM)

Web content management (CM)

Digital asset management (DAM)

Learning management systems (LM)

Enterprise content management system (ECMS)

Besides that, we also learned about the problems that happen regarding

this system and how to solve this matter. the end of this session,

we can conclude that IM is one of the best topic that we learned

this lesson and we have to do assignment

and presentation regarding this topic.

For my group I got the topic about digital asset management (DAM)

which I only 1 female that I have to work with others 5 males

the assignment required us to do research about problems and the solutions for that cases. after that we have to present as a group to extent our understanding about this topic.

Albukhary International University

first time i heard about this university, first time i arrived here,

The landscape, the architecture, the building, its very beautiful and unique

Actually i was dreaming to study here and wish to be here. This is because my father has been passed away for 3 years. I have to find the scholarship for continue my university and also help my family. Since one of my friends promotes this university, it is very interesting for me to apply

everything could be comfort, everything is already prepared!

free education, allowance by month, meals,

accommodation, medical insurance

who do not deserve it?

just come here to study! here. It’s my luck to be accepted to be here,

the most highly thanks to our founder of this university,

by the way it is nothing just I want to share some experiences, while I am studying here,

This university exactly unique, which is different with others university.

It is very unique in term of having the variety of people here,
the culture, custom.Moreover, others universities they do not
need to do cleaning, they would able to have housekeeping

But here we are compulsory to do that by ourselves

if not, confirm demerit will be given by our own wodern.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ...............
it is look like school time,there are many roles here.

but, it is still ok for me because I deserved to be here, so I have to accept everything that being implemented without any reasons L

there are many varieties in this university and u will never see it in other places. But it is already enough to introduce or promoting this university

however, I am appreciate and grateful for this opportunity, i could study here
